Revelation 3:7
(Revelation 3:7).
I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it- for you
have weakened (spiritual) power, have kept My word, and have not denied My name
(Revelation 3:8).
Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are
not, but lie- indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I
have loved you
(Revelation 3:9).
And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write- these things says
He who is holy,
He who is true,
He who has the key of David- He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens
(Revelation 3:7).
and it is revealed several times in Revelation Scroll Number Nine-
Are there other scrolls in the bible that appear to reveal this? Yes. Here are a few:
For I AM the Lord your God. You shall therefore consecrate yourselves, and you shall be holy- for I AM holy. Neither shall you defile yourselves with any creeping thing that creeps on the earth. For I AM the Lord who brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I AM holy

Jesus Christ is True
The word for "true" in Greek is alethinos. It means honest, accurate, sincere,
rightful, consistent, unswerving loyalty, and agreeing with facts or reality. These words help
describe God- the fact that He is true.
God reveals the fact that Jesus Christ is true in several scrolls of Revelation:
It is revealed here in Revelation Scroll Number Seven-
And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write- these things says He who is...true
(Revelation 3:7).
And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write- these things says the
Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the beginning of the creation of God
(Revelation 3:14).
And they cried with a loud voice, saying- how long, O Lord, holy and true...
(Revelation 6:10).
Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was
called Faithful and True...
(Revelation 19:11).
(John 17:3).
For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia,
but also in every place. Your faith toward God has gone out, so that we do not need to say
anything. For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how
you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for His Son from
Heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the anger to come
(1 Thessalonians 1:8-10).
He who has received His testimony has certified that God is true
(John 3:33).
And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we
may know Him who is true- and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is
the true God and eternal life
(1 John 5:20).
(John 14:6).
It appears "the key of David" stands alone in Revelation and is not repeated in multiple scrolls.
What does it mean? The key of David represents the power to open and close doors.
Because King David was a righteous ruler, it is as if he had a symbolic
key to his throne that will unlock it. Whoever has that key will sit upon that symbolic throne
having righteousness- exercising political authority and power. Christ has that key of David
and will literally rule during His second coming. In human genealogy, Christ is descended
from King David and has a right to the throne by the right of ascension.
Are there other scrolls in the bible that appear to reveal this? Yes, but first, let me say this:
Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, had authority over King Hezekiah's territory. Eliakim's name
means- God raises or God sets up (ascends). The keeper of the keys had the power to open and to
shut doors. He loved the Lord and stood in place of the Lord (he was a type of Christ) so God
spoke of Christ via Eliakim-
...then it shall be in that day, that I will call My servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah- I will
clothe Him with your robe and strengthen Him with your belt- I will commit your responsibility
into His hand. He shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.
The key of the house of David I will lay on His shoulder- so He shall open, and no one shall
shut- and He shall shut, and no one shall open...
(Isaiah 22:20-22).
And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates
of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven,
and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in Heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in Heaven
(Matthew 16:18-19).
I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut
it- for you have weakened (spiritual) power, have kept My word, and have
not denied My name.

It appears this scripture portion in this context stands alone in Revelation and is not repeated
in multiple scrolls. Are there other scrolls in the bible in this context that appear to reveal
an open door? Yes. Here are a few:
Moses had an open door to go to Egypt to do God's will-
And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him (Moses) in a flame of fire from the middle of a bush.
So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed
(Exodus 3:2).
Moreover He said- I AM the God of your father- the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God
of Jacob. And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God. And the Lord said- I have
surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of
their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand
of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land
flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites
and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites. Now therefore, behold, the cry of the
children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians
oppress them. Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people,
the children of Israel, out of Egypt
(Exodus 3:6-10).
Then the manna ceased on the day after they had eaten the produce of the land- and the children
of Israel no longer had manna, but they ate the food of the land of Canaan that year
(Joshua 5:12).
And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the
gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of
Heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in Heaven, and whatever you loose on earth
will be loosed in Heaven
(Matthew 16:18-19).
And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him,
saying- come over to Macedonia and help us. Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we
sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them
(Acts 16:9-10).
(1 Corinthians 10:11).
...verily, verily, I say unto you, I AM the door of the sheep. All that ever came before
Me are thieves and robbers- but the sheep did not hear them. I AM the door- by Me if any
man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh
not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy- I am come that they might have life, and
that they might have it more abundantly
(John 10:7-10).
Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel- a door was opened unto
me of the Lord
(2 Corinthians 2:12).
And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had
done with them, and how He had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles
(Acts 14:27).
But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost. For a great and effective door is opened unto me
(1 Corinthians 16:8-9).
...continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; also praying also for us,
that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for
which I am also in bonds- that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak
(Colossians 4:2-4).
If you (Cain) do well, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do well, sin lies at the door
(Genesis 4:7).
And they took every man his censer, and put fire in them, and laid incense thereon, and stood
in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation with Moses and Aaron. And Korah gathered
all the congregation against them unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation...
(Numbers 16:18-19).
But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door
(Genesis 19:10).
For the Lord will pass through to smite the Egyptians- and when He sees the blood upon the
lintel, and on the two side posts, the Lord will pass over the door, and will not allow
the destroyer to come in into your houses to kill you (Exodus 12:23). And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless- and whosoever shall be with you in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if a hand is laid on him
(Joshua 2:19).
And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children- I will not go
out free- then his master shall bring him unto the judges- he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post- and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl- and he shall serve him for ever
(Exodus 21:5-6).
This shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the
tabernacle of the congregation before the Lord- where I will meet you, to speak there unto
you. And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified
by My glory. And I will sanctify the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar- I will
sanctify also both Aaron and his sons, to minister to Me in the priest's office. And I will
dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God. And they shall know that I am the
Lord their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among
them- I AM the Lord their God
(Exodus 29:42-46).
And it came to pass, when Moses went out to the tabernacle, that all the people rose up, and
stood every man at his tent door, and looked after Moses, until he was gone into the tabernacle.
And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar descended, and
stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord talked with Moses. And all the people saw
the cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door- and all the people rose up and worshipped,
every man at his tent door
(Exodus 33:8-10).
And you shalt bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,
and wash them with water
(Exodus 40:12).
And he put the altar of burnt offering by the door of the tabernacle of the tent of the
congregation, and offered upon it the burnt offering and the meat offering- as the Lord
commanded Moses
(Exodus 40:29). If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without
blemish- he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of
the congregation before the Lord
(Leviticus 1:3). And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it at the
door of the tabernacle of the congregation- and Aaron's sons the priests shall sprinkle the
blood upon the altar round about
(Leviticus 3:2).
And he shall kill the bullock before the Lord- and the priests, Aaron's sons, shall bring the
blood, and sprinkle the blood round about upon the altar that is by the door of the
tabernacle of the congregation
(Leviticus 1:5). And he shall bring the bullock unto the door of the tabernacle of the
congregation before the Lord- and shall lay his hand upon the bullock's head, and kill the
bullock before the Lord
(Leviticus 4:4).
And the priest shall put some of the blood upon the horns of the altar of sweet incense before
the Lord, that is in the tabernacle of the congregation- and shall pour all the blood of the
bullock at the bottom of the altar of the burnt offering, that is at the door of the
tabernacle of the congregation
(Leviticus 4:7).
And Moses did as the Lord commanded him- and the assembly was gathered together to the door
of the tabernacle of the congregation
(Leviticus 8:4). And when they shall blow with them, all the assembly shall assemble
themselves to you at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation
(Numbers 10:3).
And Moses said unto Aaron and to his sons, boil the flesh at the door of the tabernacle of the
congregation- and there eat it with the bread that is in the basket of consecrations, as I
commanded, saying- Aaron and his sons shall eat it. And that which remains of the flesh and of
the bread shall you burn with fire. And you shall not go out of the door of the tabernacle of
the congregation in seven days, until the days of your consecration be at an end- for seven
days shall he consecrate you. As he has done this day, so the Lord has commanded to do, to make
an atonement for you. Therefore shall you abide at the door of the tabernacle of the
congregation day and night seven days, and keep the charge of the Lord, that you die
not- for so I am commanded
(Leviticus 8:31-35).
And the priest that maketh him clean (from leprosy) shall present the man that is to be made
clean, and those things, before the Lord, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation
(Leviticus 14:11).
And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats for a
sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering. And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin
offering, which is for himself, and make an atonement for himself, and for his house. And
he shall take the two goats, and present them before the Lord at the door of the
tabernacle of the congregation
(Leviticus 16:5-7).
And the Lord came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the
tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam- and they both came forth
(Numbers 12:5).
And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish
woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of
Israel, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation
(Numbers 25:6).
And you shall write them (God's commandments) upon the door posts of your house, and
upon your gates
(Deuteronomy 11:20).
These are the inheritances, that Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads
of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, divided for an inheritance by lot
in Shiloh before the Lord, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. So they made
an end of dividing the country
(Joshua 19:51).
But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your
Father who is in the secret place- and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly
(Matthew 6:6).
So likewise ye, when you shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors
(Matthew 24:33). So you in like manner, when you shall see these things come to pass, know that
it is close, even at the doors
(Mark 13:29).
And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came- and they that were ready went in with him
to the marriage- and the door was shut
(Matthew 25:10).
Then Peter said unto her, how is it that you have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the
Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried your husband are at the door, and shall
carry you out
(Acts 5:9).
And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison. But the angel of
the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth (Acts 5:18-19). Peter
therefore was kept in prison- but prayer was made without ceasing of the
church unto God for him. And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was
sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains- and the keepers before the door kept
the prison. And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the
prison- and he touched Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying- gird yourself and tie on
your sandals- and so he did. And he said to him- put on your garment and follow me.
So he went out and followed him...
(Acts 12:5-9).
And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had
done with them, and how He had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles
(Acts 14:27).
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock- if any man hear My voice, and open the door,
I will come in to him, and will eat with him, and he with Me
(Revelation 3:20).
After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven- and the first voice that
I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me- that said- come up here
(Revelation 4:1).
The church in Philadelphia had been in spiritual warfare. They had been fighting against the
devil and his schemes. They fought emperor worship and external persecution, and false doctrine and
false prophets resulting in internal conflicts. Idol worship, martyrdom, and the eating of
meat offered to idols was some of what they had to fight against. It appears the lie had spread
that Jesus no longer loved them because He allowed them to be in such long and intense pain.
But this was not true- the Lord loved them greatly. All of this took a lot of spiritual power
and their spiritual batteries, so to speak, suffered a severe drain but they persevered
anyways. At the right time the Lord recharged their batteries, gave them encouragement, and
also the victory.
God reveals the use of spiritual power in another scroll of Revelation:
It is revealed in Revelation Scroll Number Nine-
And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two
hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth (Revelation 11:3)...these have power to shut
Heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy- and they have power over waters
to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire
(Revelation 11:6).
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues,
as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Behold, I give you power to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over
all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you
(Luke 10:19).
And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean
spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease
(Matthew 10:1).
And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord
Jesus. And great grace was upon them all
(Acts 4:33).
To be an Overcomer one must be obedient and loyal to Christ and His word, no matter what the cost.
God appears to reveal some examples of this in several scrolls of Revelation:
It is revealed in Revelation Scroll Number Four-
I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan's throne is. And you hold fast to
My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr,
who was killed among you, where Satan dwells
(Revelation 2:13).
When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been
slain for the word of God and for the testimony that they held
(Revelation 6:9).
I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus
(Revelation 17:6).
(Daniel 6:10-11)...So the king gave
the command, and they brought Daniel and cast him into the den of lions. But the king spoke,
saying to Daniel- your God, whom you serve continually, He will deliver you (Daniel 6:16)...
Then Daniel said to the king- O king, live forever! My God sent His angel and shut the lions'
mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him- and also, O king,
I have done no wrong before you. Then the king was exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that
they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no injury
whatever was found on him, because he believed in his God
(Daniel 6:21-23).
When they heard these things they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their
teeth. But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into Heaven and saw the glory of God, and
Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and said- look! I see the heavens opened and the Son
of Man standing at the right hand of God! Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their
ears, and ran at him with one accord- and they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the
witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul. And they stoned Stephen
as he was calling on God and saying- Lord Jesus, receive my spirit
(Acts 7:54-59).
There is an old saying- blood makes you related but loyalty makes you family. An Overcomer
is to be loyal to Christ, no matter what the cost, and not deny Him.
God appears to reveal this in several scrolls of Revelation:
This revelation is revealed in Revelation Scroll Number Four-
...you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days in which Antipas
was My faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells
(Revelation 2:13).
...you...have kept My word, and have not denied My name
(Revelation 3:8).
Also I say to you, whoever confesses Me before men, him the Son of Man also will confess before
the angels of God. But he who denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God
(Luke 12:8-9).
Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not,
but lie- indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that
I have loved you.
Who Say They are Jews and Are Not- But Lie (Lifestyle Liars)
